Xioel Terrero is a bilingual (English/Spanish) licensed mental health counselor. She earned an undergraduate degree from Fordham University and a master’s degree in counseling from Manhattan College. As an immigrant from the Dominican Republic, Xioel has experienced firsthand the challenges that come with life transitions. Her experience acclimating to a new culture instilled the importance of interacting with people in an empathetic, nonjudgmental, and compassionate manner. Xioel’s experience of navigating life in the United States while being labeled “other” led to her becoming a strong advocate for social justice and equity. She is passionate about working with Latinx, African American, and LGBTQIA communities.
Xioel specializes in working with adolescents and adults on issues such as anxiety, depression, generational trauma, identity, and life transitions. Using person-centered and cognitive behavioral therapeutic approaches, Xioel helps empower her clients by teaching them skills that help them to take control of their journey.
